Onika Tanya Maraj (born December 8, 1982), known by her stage name Nicki Minaj, is a Trinidadian-born American musician. She was born in Saint James, Trinidad and Tobago, and moved to the New York borough of Queens when she was five.

After releasing three mixtapes between 2007 and 2009 and being signed to Young Money Entertainment in August 2009, Nicki Minaj released her debut album, Pink Friday, in November 2010. It quickly became a commercial success, peaking at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 and being certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) a month after its release. She became the first female solo artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. She also became the first female artist to be included on MTV's Annual Hottest MC List. "Va Va Voom" was at first, planned song to be the lead single from Nicki Minaj's sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, but was later replaced by the song "Starships". "Va Va Voom" was produced by Dr. Luke, Kool Kojak and Cirkut. In December of 2011, a rumor started that the song featured guest vocals from American rapper Future, but these claims have been proven to be false.

On December 21, 2011, Minaj filmed a music video for the song. The accompanying video was never released, due to the label changing the first single to "Starships" at the last minute. In the beginning of April 2012, a fan asked on Twitter if she will release it. She said she may or may not release it. This song is very popular amongst her fans. There are rumors that the song will be released as a single on August 3, 2012.

In March of 2012, Nicki Minaj announced that she would embark on a new world tour. The title of the tour is the Pink Friday Tour. It is much unlike the mini tour in support of her debut album in 2010.

The tour began on May 16, 2012. She announced the dates for most of the Europen leg on March 22, 2012. The countries she said she would visit are the following: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, England, Belguim, the Netherlands, France, and Italy. She later announced a concert in Berlin would be performed.

Minaj finally confirmed via Twitter that she would be embarking on an Arena tour in Fall 2012.
