Tidal (stylized as TIDAL and also known as TIDALHiFi) is a the first artist owned subscription-based music streaming service that combines lossless audio and HD music videos. It has over 25 million songs and 75,000 music videos as of March 2015, and that is expected to grow. Unlike many other streaming services, Tidal offers no free plan. There are two plans, Tidal Premium for $9.99 which is free of ads and unlimited listening time, and the other Tidal HiFi for $19.99 which is the same as Tidal Premium except it offers high fidelity and lossless audio. Tidal claims that out of all the streaming services out there, they pay the highest percentage of royalties to music artists, producers, and songwriters. As of the Jay-Z March launch, the service has over 580,000 paying users. Tidal operates in over 31 countries.
Nicki Minaj is among many other artists who own a share in the company. By agreeing to promote the streaming service and give exclusive content, she will receive 3% of the profit.
