"Rock Star" is a song by rapper Future expected for his sophomore album Honest, which features guest vocals by Nicki Minaj. French Montana was included on another version of the song without Nicki's verse. It was produced by DJ Clue. The song was scrapped from the final tracklist, and did not appear on the album because of clearance issues. The song was leaked on the Internet on July 9, 2014.

Background Edit

Minaj told MTV News on April 8, 2013, that she is set to appear on Future's upcoming album: "People are gonna love the one with Future. It just feels right. All the dudes like it, I just went in and just did my verse and just felt... His music reminds me of my mixtape music."[1]

On August 11, Future shared a picture of him with Minaj in the studio with the tag "#Honest",[2] but it is unknown exactly why they were together that day. On September 3, Future confirmed the name of the song to be "Rock Star Life" and revealed that they have recorded more than one song.[3] On March 10, 2014, the tracklist was revealed and the song did not appear.[4]  Future later said on Twitter that'll he 100% release the song.[5] It was revealed that George Michael did not give Future permission to use his sample of his hit song "Never Gonna Dance".
