Hey Mhavril39. I'm Brandon from Wikia's community team. You may have noticed in the recent changes feed that I deleted several images from Wiki Minaj. A number of these were images that you uploaded for the outtakes gallery on the page Elle photo shoot (2011). I wanted to let you know why these were deleted.
Earlier today, we received a DMCA takedown notice alleging that the images constituted a violation of the copyright of the image's owner. If you're not familiar with the DMCA, it stands for Digital Millennium Copyright Act, a federal copyright law regulating copyright online. If a rights holder has a good faith belief that their copyright is being infringed, they can send a DMCA takedown notice to the host of the image. In this case, Wikia is the host. When we receive a properly completed takedown notice, we are legally required to remove the allegedly infringing material, as we did with the images here.
This copyright notice came from a legal representative for Home Agency. In addition to the required elements of a takedown notice, the notice also said this:
"We are the agency of the photographer of the Nicki Minaj Elle 2011 shoot and there is a gallery of outtakes that were approved by neither the magazine nor the photographer for public use and are in violation of the terms of usage contract signed between both the magazine and photographer. They must be taken down immediately."
If you, in turn, have a good faith belief that the images were removed in error or through misidentification, you are welcome to send us a DMCA Counter-Notice. The process for that, as well as more information about the DMCA process, can be found here. We can also send you the full DMCA takedown notice that we received if you would like to see it. An abridged version can be found here.
This was a lot of information, so please feel free to let me know if you have any questions about any of this. Thanks!
Hey there! Just letting you know that there's a new poll up on the Music Hub for voting on new album releases, It looks like Carrie Underwood supporters are running with this. Maybe spread word to other Nicki Minaj fans?
Can you please make a HUGE favor to me please Mike? I need this image to have transparent background and, if you can, please no black borders (I was deleting the black leftovers in Paint but, you see, is not easy without professional image editors and I think you have one :p)
