On June 14, 2014, August randomly tweeted, "Nicki". On June 20, Nicki posted a snippet of the song on IG. A few minutes later August tweeted, "Minaj". They officially confirmed the collab shortly after. On July 12, August posted the release date of the song being July 14, and Nicki tweeted she thought it was the 15th. She told the Barbz she would rather it be released on iTunes than for free. On the 16th, she confirmed the song was going to be released on July 21. August Alsina uploaded the song to his Youtube account that day, but did not put it on iTunes until August 5, 2014.
