Live performance[]
Nicki Minaj and David Guetta kicked off the 2011 American Music Awards by pumping up the volume. The French DJ led into HB's grand entrance for a rendition of their single “Turn Me On”. Speakers placed on her backside, Nicki plugged in during their joint performance, descending on a platform to join her backup dancers.
During the rap portion of the track, the pink-haired diva cozied up to her dancers in a web of lights, segueing into her smash “Super Bass”. With Guetta behind turntables, she showed off her dance moves between two giant robots decked in LED lights and smoke-spewing pipes as Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez sang along in the audience.[2]
Critical reception[]
The performance was acclaimed by music critics. Jane Kellogg from Hollywood Reporter called the performance "electrifying" and said that "Minaj's outfit stole the show."[3] Vibe said that Minaj "lit up" the awards show with her performance.[4]
